About:

The remaining portion of an 800-acre tract purchased by Dr. Charles Carroll, and named Georgia Plantation, Mount Clare is located in Baltimore City’s Carroll Park. The  Carrolls amassed significant wealth due to their ownership and / or stake in several industries: iron works, grist mill, and brick-making. Agricultural pursuits at Mount Clare were largely for pleasure and included falling gardens, orchards, and buildings devoted to growing tropical fruits like pineapples and oranges.

Mount Clare Museum has been witness to a growing city and population. In addition to the site’s colonial history, the land has served many other uses including: the first B&O station and maintenance yard, hotels and cavalry training ground during the Civil War, a recreational club for a German immigrant society, and, now, a city park.

This 18th century historic site has a great tagline – Minutes from the Inner Harbor, but centuries away.
