Baltimore Center Stage

Launched in 1963 by a community drama group, Baltimore Center Stage has become Baltimore’s leading professional production theatre. After a potentially disastrous arson fire in 1974, the stage company needed a new location. 700 N. Calvert Street originally housed Loyola College and High School and then laid vacant for over three decades before being bought by Center Stage in 1975. Since then the theater has hosted more than 100,000 people each season. Baltimore Center Stage is the State Theatre of Maryland and produces approximately six plays per season. Remarkably all elements of each show, including sets, costumes and props are created onsite. Come see the newly renovated theater!
