Parks and People Foundation

2100 Liberty Heights Ave, Baltimore, MD 21217

Occupying land that was not always separated from Druid Hill Park proper by a highway, the Parks and People Headquarters includes two diverse buildings, both with LEED “Platinum” designations from the U.S. Green Building Council. The Gothic Revival Druid Hill Park superintendent’s house was constructed in 1872, and nearly destroyed by two fires in the 1980s. Lovingly restored by the Parks and People Foundation, this structure has served as home to numerous park superintendents and their families, as well as a golf club and a bicycle club. The second building on the campus, the Sally and Butch Michel Center for Parks and People, designed in 2015 by Ziger/Snead Architects, is now used as the organization’s headquarters, as well as housing space for community meetings and educational programming. Visitors are encouraged to tour the campus and relax and picnic on the grounds.

See the Baltimore City Historical Society’s 17th annual presentation of History Honors from 3-5pm.
