The Motor House opened in 1914 as Eastwick Motor Co., selling Ford cars. After serving various purposes in the intervening years, the building opened as Load of Fun in 2005, housing artist studios and Single Carrot Theatre. Baltimore Arts Realty Corporation (BARCO) bought the building in 2013 with the goal of creating an arts hub for Station North. Motor House provides affordable and sustainable housing for Baltimore’s artistic community. On the first floor you’ll find a performance venue and gallery area. The second floor houses 18 artists, while the third floor serves as office and collaborative space for six arts-related organizations. Come see the work of Motor House residents on a guided tour, enjoy some refreshments and check out the Charm City Theatre Palooza, the first city-wide theatre competition!
