Baltimore Clayworks

5707 Smith Ave, Baltimore, MD 21209 www.baltimoreclayworks.org

Founded in 1980 by nine potters and ceramic sculptors, Baltimore Clayworks is a non-profit ceramic art center that exists to develop, sustain, and promote an artist-centered community that provides outstanding artistic, educational, and collaborative programs in ceramic arts. The current studio building, where Baltimore Clayworks was originally established, was built in 1919 for the Mt. Washington Library. The current gallery building was originally part of the all-female Mount St. Agnes College, opened in 1890, which was run by the Sisters of Mercy. After the college merged with Loyola College in 1971, St. Paul Companies purchased the property and in 1999, donated it to Clayworks. Don’t miss this chance to see contemporary ceramic exhibitions on a gallery tour and to visit artists at work in the studio!
